How to avoid brute force attack on WPS

10711 WPS is short for Wi-Fi Protected Setup, it is an easy method for setting up a wireless secured connection between wireless router (or AP) and client (adapter) quickly. It is also called QSS (Quick Security Setup) on some TP-Link device.
There are three ways to make the WPS connection:
1. Press the WPS button on both wireless router and client;
2. Register client’s PIN code on router’s WEB manage page;
3. Register router’s PIN code on client’s utility.
It has been reported that many wireless routers do not implement any kind of lock out policy for brute force attempts.
TP-Link has been aware of this problem and has designed a lock out policy against brute force attack on WPS PIN. After several failed WPS attempts from a client, the router will lock out WPS connection through router’s PIN. We have implemented this policy on our popular WPS-enabled model, TL-WR1043ND. For the users of other models, we suggest you disable WPS function by following steps
Step 1:
Open the web browser and type http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 in the address bar, press the Enter button. The default username and password are both admin.
Step 2:
On the left side menu, please click on WPS (or QSS).

Click on Disable WPS.
